What is a Home Care Package

If you require a higher level of care, a Home Care Package is a government-funded program in Australia that provides older adults (over 65) with support and services to help them live independently at home for as long as possible. These packages offer a range of services tailored to individual needs, such as personal care, nursing, allied health, and domestic assistance.

As everyone’s care needs are different, there are four levels of Home Care Packages with different funding amounts. These cover basic support needs through to high care needs.

Fee Schedule

Eligibility for a Home Care Package

To be eligible for a Home Care Package, you must be an older adult who needs coordinated services to help you stay at home. Eligibility is assessed through the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT), or Aged Care Assessment Service (ACAS) based on your care needs and circumstances.

Applying for a Home Care Package

To apply for a Home Care Package, you need to contact My Aged Care, either online or by phone (1800 200 422). They will guide you through the application process, which involves a comprehensive assessment of your care needs by an ACAT or ACAS team.
